Gamerscore Blog’s John Porcaro has made a post addressing the recent influx of rumors about a potential price drop for the Xbox 360. He says the meaning behind these reports have been misunderstood as Microsoft is currently working on reducing the price of the internal components so the company does not take such a loss on each console sold. The “official statement” is as follows:
“Microsoft has no plans to change the price of the Xbox 360 Core or Xbox 360 SKUs this fall.”
This makes since too. Why would they drop the price when their established price point is still anywhere from $100-$300 cheaper than their biggest competitors price point depending on which SKUs you compare.
