The other day, with the announcement of Pac Man C.E., I can honestly say that I was dissapointed and bashed the game prematurely. While I still stand by my initial view on the “major announcement,” I do believe I owe an apology to the actual game.
After recieving a review code for Pac Man, I thought it would only be fair to actually give the game a try, and to see if it lived up to the hype and the 800 point price. I played the game for easily 2 hours, trying to beat the new challenges, and can say that I actually enjoyed it. Sure, in the end it is Pac Man, however the game is pretty and each of the 5 modes offers a unique experience each offering a different challenge the the previous game didn’t offer.
The game is still the same, eat the dots and try to avoid the ghosts. Eat the big dot, and you can attack the ghosts, etc. However its differences from the other games is what makes this version fun. Each game offers a time limit of 5:00 or 10:00 which means that great players won’t have to play for hours, and that bad players won’t have to struggle to reach the end of the challenge
The music is interesting, the HD makes the game look beautiful (in terms of Pac Man graphics), and the game itself is a nice way to keep old Pac Man lovers happy, and a way to appeal to new gamers. So I suggest giving the demo a try before judging a book by its cover. I learned my lesson the hard way.
