After last weeks Blockbuster announcement of only carrying BluRay, do you think Microsoft was just going to sit idle, and do nothing? Think again
Amazon.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are teaming up in a deal that will allow filmmakers a better opportunity to get their films to the public.
The deal is called the “1,000 HD DVD Indies Project,” and will utilize Seattle-based Amazon’s (NASDAQ: AMZN) CustomFlix subsidiary. CustomFlix’s DVD on Demand technology produces and ships DVDs only when they’re ordered.
Up to 1,000 movies will be created with the HD DVD format using Redmond-based Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) technology.
Filmmakers who want more information can visit www.customflix.com/hddvdindies.
