After Circuit City revealed a price break on the PlayStation 3, news sites and analysts predicted a price cut. However, the next day, Sony President Ryoji Chubachi made a bold statement on an interview with Reuters, explaining that “”At present we have no plans [to cut the price].”

Well, I do not know who to trust and who to believe anymore, but.. SURPRISE, Sony’s official blog posted this news today,

“In addition, as some of you speculated last week, we confirmed today that we are lowering the price of our current 60GB PS3 by $100, to $499, effective immediately in North America. I know many of you were eager to hear this and we’re thrilled to share this with you now as we head into E3.”

So, yeah, there you have it, they didn’t have any plans, but were able to make not only a price but, but to add a new version of the PS3, new box art etc. That was pretty quick for a team without a plan, ya know?
