Omega Five Preview

When I am given the chance to offer a preview for an Xbox Live Arcade title, you know I am going to jump at it… and this week I got the scoop on the upcoming shooter from Hudson Entertainment – Omega Five. The last game that they brought to the Arcade was Bomberman Live!, which is not only a great game by itself, but has also been receiving the DLC treatment lately. I always enjoy seeing a publisher offer DLC to keep the game play interesting.

Omega Five is an all-new, original IP for Xbox LIVE® Arcade, with production values that rival those of a retail product. The gameplay follows the tradition of past side-scrolling shooters: as the screen scrolls from right to left, you move your character in two dimensions, either shooting or dodging enemies and their attacks. As you proceed, you can collect both weapon upgrades for your normal attacks and “chips” to power-up your special attacks.

Overview: As you fly through entirely dangerous 3D environments in this side-scroller, enemies come at you from all sides, even the background! Grab an extra controller, choose your warrior, and engage in 2-player local co-op, too.

• Unbelievable visuals for an XLBA game – No other shooter available on XBLA looks this good. This side-scrolling shooter, the first true next-gen HD shooter, is set in a gorgeous 3D environment.

• Intuitive controls – A modern control scheme uses the right analog stick to aim and fire.
