MTV Senior VP of home entertainment, Paul DeGooyer, was recently interviewed by Rocky Mountain news. There he said that they plan to premier new songs from different bands, including Metallica. He said “There are a couple of things we’ve committed to, one of them with Metallica for example. They’ve reserved the right to give us their first single from their new album for the game.” No other specifics were laid out, but even so, this is a good showing of the potential for the downloadable content side of rock band, and possibly, the power of having MTV on the side of Harmonix. Here’s hoping more artists do the same.
