The fine people over at Digital Extremes and D3 Publishing have let forth a mass of screen shots of Dark Sector today. A mass indeed, as true to the nature of the PR machine they released only the highest quality images.. in this case I mean 16 30 meg .bmp files! While glorious on the eyes, they are painfully harsh on the bandwidth, so here they are, end user friendly for your mass consumption!

Dark Sector has been one of those games that has been on my radar for a while now. While my initial response was to dismiss it out of hand as “another one of those shooters with a small twist” I’ve come to realize that while this might be the case, that “twist” looks to be a pretty big one and makes the game stick to the top of my “to play” listing. I never dismiss a game out of hand mind you, I give everyone its due chance, but I was already beginning to rethink my dismissal of it before I saw these screens, and I have had a full change of heart since. It looks to be visually pleasant, which while graphics don’t make the game, they go a long way to support it and the immersion into the story. It’s only a month and a half out, at current planning, so keep an eye out for it and be sure to check it out. Hopefully per the usual fare a demo will be available on life around the week of Christmas to help wet out appetite more. Who knew that a viral infection could look to be so exciting to contract?!
