Via press release, we get word from EA of a new addition to their ever-successful Command & Conquer series. After a 7 year drought to this part of the series, they just announced Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3™. Personally, I played loads of Red Alert 2, and it is my favorite RTS to date. It is old, but it was relatively simple, easy and fun to play and was great if you had about 15-20 minutes to spare (read: waste). I’m personally really excited to see how Red Alert 3 turns out and with a bit of luck, we’ll get a demo before it launches to see how the game plays.
Also, they included a bit of information on the beta for Red Alert 3. You can gain early access into the beta by purchasing a copy of Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath (now) or Command & Conquer 3 Limited Collection (later this year) on PC. Going via the Crackdown/Halo 3 Beta route much? Lame. One key note about the beta to remember: it’s PC only. As much as I don’t want to endorse such nickel-and-diming behavior by EA, I think I’ll be buying C&C3 for PC. For more information hit up the Beta FAQ at the Command & Conquer site.
