In a move that will make Magic The Gathering fans wet their pants, it was announced today that Stainless Games and Wizards of the Coast will be bringing Magic The Gathering to the Xbox Live Arcade.

Magic: The Gathering, introduced in 1993, is the premier and original trading card game that inspired an entirely new game genre. Combining the dynamics of a card game with the excitement of trading and collecting, Magic™ offers fun for casual play, as well as the option of highly competitive tournaments.  The game allows gamers to collect and trade virtual cards, build the perfect deck, get help from mentors, find opponents at all skill levels, and compete for prizes every day without ever leaving the comforts of home.

We will try to get some more information on this title, cause we are live from GDC!

I would love to see this implemented right, but I have a feeling there are to many ways to screw this one up. I would hate to have to spend tons of MSP to buy all the best individual cards to compete with some of the best people. I just don’t see how they could do it any other way though (Having packs of like 100 random cards available for say 200 MSP.)

I agree the PC version of Magic Online had the same problem in which you had to buy virtual booster packs but they cost around the same as real cards so you ended up spending a lot of money to play.
