For those people that purchased either a standalone or Xbox 360 HD-DVD player before February 23rd there is a $50 gift card heading your way from Best Buy.  For most people it will show up automatically (by May 1st) via their purchase using their Reward Zone membership but no word on how to claim and prove your right to the gift card if you didnt purchase with a Reward Zone membership.  (We will attempt to contact Big Blue to find out).

UPDATE: Just got word back from Best Buy:

Every customer who purchased an HD-DVD player from Best Buy before February 23 is eligible for a gift card, whether or not they are a Reward Zone member.

We will proactively send cards to ANY customer we can identify… so
Reward Zone members, people who purchased PSPs, or people who purchased on BestBuy.com should expect to receive their cards without having to do anything.

If you do not fall into one of those categories we may need help
tracking you down.  That’s when you should call 888-BEST BUY to give them proof of purchase info to receive your card.
