Update: Bungie announced via their weekly Inside Bungie feature that the Heroic Map Pack would be free as of  2 AM PST on March 25th! Start counting down the days!

Yesterday, we received details from Bungie about Halo 3’s second map pack titled the Legendary Map Pack. With over 7.3 million copies sold and over 500 million hours of online play, Halo 3 is one of the most played online games on the Xbox 360. Also, the first map pack, the Heroic Map Pack, was downloaded over 1 million times from the Xbox Live Marketplace, and if I remember correctly, should become a free download when the Legendary Map Pack releases.

The Legendary Map Pack will become available on April 15th on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points. It will feature 3 new and exciting maps and some new Forge options; Ghost Town was previously detailed, Avalanche was revealed yesterday as part of this announcement, and the final map will be revealed soon, as long as you keep you eyes peeled to Bungie.net.

Ghost Town is a medium sized map featuring a “battle-scarred maze” from a part of the city of Voi. Avalanche, very similar to Sidewinder in Halo: Combat Evolved, is a huge map that features many vehicles including the Hornet and Wraiths. The third unrevealed map, according to Bungie, is something Slayer fans should get excited about.
