Disturbed Gets Rock Band Treatment

By | May 5, 2008 | Xbox 360 |

Best Buy has grabbed an exclusive (at least for the time being), where if you preorder Disturbed’s new album, Indestructible, you’ll get bonus tracks on Rock Band for free. The two free songs are:

  • “Inside the Fire”
  • “Perfect Insanity
  • So, will you be coughing up $11.99 for the deal? Or will you wait to see if they decide to put it on the marketplace (cough, exclusive OXM tracks)?

I had, last August, the distinct honor of meeting David Draiman in person. Disturbed is a band that is very in-tune with their fans. David was polite and well spoken, intelligent, and real genuine. I have loved Disturbed since ‘Sickness’, and promised David that when their new CD came out I would review it for him.

      Review of Ten Thousand Fists:

Beginning right off with some sitar music (which I love) Draiman belts out the title song, ‘Ten Thousand Fists’. Using Disturbed’s unique drumming and David’s unique vocals; not a toneless growl, but a remarkably in-tune and powerful vocal talent, ‘Ten Thousand Fists’ is easily one of the best songs on the CD.

All of the tracks have a synchronicity to them that in no way becomes repetitive or monotonous, each filling that ravenous hunger for excellent rock music. The next tracks, ‘Just Stop’ and ‘Guarded’ combine thought-provoking lyrics with powerful guitar and slightly changing beats. The forth track, ‘Deify’ is one of my absolute favorites. Along with the heavy riffs are some important lyrics with a political message, how these big liars are stripping us of our innocence. Let’s take our power back.
‘Stricken’ takes a chugging beat during verse and showcases Draiman’s vocals during chorus, and reminds of some of the bad chicks my male friends have fallen for. ‘I’m Alive’ touched me as a personal cry for independence, of not allowing others to change who and what you really are.
‘Sons of Plunder’, “All the pimping sons of plunder will roll up their sleeves”. Great song!

‘Overburdened’ begins with a creepy tone, a musical feeling of dread, followed by amazing “railroad” riffs and some spectacular 70′s style guitar leads. ‘Decadence’ is next, heavy and sharp, magical and classic Draiman. “Decadence isn’t easy, is it?”
‘Forgiven’ is another favorite, reminding me of the power of ‘Liberate’ on Disturbed’s ‘Believe’ CD.
‘Land Of Confusion’, a cover of an older ‘Genesis’ song, takes a song that wasn’t that bad to begin with and adds such power and freshness to it that I can’t even quite describe it. It’s freaking awesome.

‘Sacred Lie’ is another favorite, again containing a subtle political message that rings so very true. Magnetic vocals and a driving beat bring this song above the rest of the pack. ‘Pain Redefined’ stands on its musical shine alone, unique percussion and more “railroad” guitar, and Draiman’s amazing growls. ‘Avarice’ finishes off the CD, an encore of power and anger, Disturbed style.

My favorites are ‘Ten Thousand Fists’, ‘Deify’, ‘I’m Alive’, ‘Forgiven’, ‘Land Of Confusion’, ‘Sacred Lie’, and ‘Pain Redefined’. There is not one bad track on this CD. Slightly more political than their previous CD’s, they still keep the messages subtler than, say, SOAD. This is one of the best CD’s of 2005, do not hesitate to run out and buy it now.

I think in 2008 the new CD will be just as good.
