Boarded-up Comment Contest Giveaway! [Closed]

By | May 7, 2008 | Xbox 360 |

Update: Closed. Winner has been contacted and we will announce them shortly!

This week, for our Comment Contest Giveaway, we have something a bit out of the ordinary for you. Wits and Wagers released on XBLA today, and in that is somewhat what we’re giving away. There is one major difference: we’re giving away the Wits and Wagers Board Game and not the XBLA title!

So to qualify yourself, just comment with a response to this question: “Do you prefer playing board games on XBLA or on the traditional board?

Comment away!

Special thanks to NorthStarGames for the giveaway!

    xbla please!

XBLA because it is hard to get enough people to sit down around a board game to play it.

  • http://EnterYourWebsite Mylkal

XBLA cause no one ever sits down and plays a board game anymore =(

  • Kane

I prefer to sit face to face. But that is rather difficult. So XBLA is easier to find someone to enjoy a mental game with.

  • http://EnterYourWebsite RoastedVeggies

XBLA, easier to get everyone together to play than in real life.

  • http://www.twitter.com/wriggy Wriggy

It depends. If the controls are hard I’d opt for traditional games but if they’re nice and easy, XBOX Live Arcade.

  • itower

why do we have to like one or the other … i like them both …

  • Dustin

XbL is fun but wont ever replace the traditional!

  • DanteSparda504

I like to play them on the XBLA over Xbox Live since my Family doesn’t sit down to play board games so I am stuck with video game versions of them.

    XBLA

I have no real life friends to play with lol.

  • AblativMeatshld

XBLA… It’s impossible to locally get enough people together for a boardgame. XBLA lets me expand the pool to the entire planet…

  • Assassin 10k

Who even play board games anymore? With XBLA no more worrying about cleaning up or lost pieces. XBLA FTW!

Board game. You get to play with your own custom rules and it’s a lot more fun to play with people in the same room. They’re the original party games. :)

  • saffista

xbla because I can play whenever I want!

  • http://EnterYourWebsite Jay900

XBLA because people can’t flip the board when they lose :)

  • Bill Mcdougal

I actually like playing on xbox better. My girlfriend collects german (mostly) board games and has a whole room full of them, so I can actually say that I’ve played most XBLA board games in both forms. I like them on Arcade better because the game does all of the counting for you. Playing Carcasson is much more fun when you don’t have to sit there and count scores when the game is over.

  • wackysplash

I prefer actual board games with friends, but if I can’t get anyone to sit around and play the actual game I also enjoy playing on XBLA.

  • LeaveMeAlone117

XBLA. It’s way easier to put the game away when you’re done playing. ;)

  • http://EnterYourWebsite Nick Norman

It depends. For the most part, XBLA (cheevos!), but there’s something about actually slapping your friend in the face duing UNO. Plus, Monopoly and Scrabble aren’t online yet.

  • Hoosierdaddy812

I prefer to play board games live in person; you know, with real people. Although, I do have to admit that Catan was a blast online.

After having played the XBLA game for a bit, I’d definitely prefer the board game over the original. Lots of repeats and errors (such as WINNER! being displayed on, say, someone who finished without chips), otherwise it’s been fairly fun.

In general, with a good translation, I’d love to see a lot more board games ported to XBLA, and I definitely prefer XBLA over “the hassle.” (See UNO)

  • Aegis

It really depends on what the game is, if it’s something like Monopoly where it is going to take a while to finish the game, I’d prefer to play face to face, so we can take breaks. If it’s something fun and easy like a card game (ie UNO) then I’ll play on the XBLA.

  • Col Hartman

I loved monopoly as a young boy as well as other board games like chutes & ladders, Trivia Pursuit, and Life. But I’m an adult now and well we have achievements on XBLA so now I prefer playing board gams on my 360. I’m looking forward to Wits and Wagers and of course Monopoly on my 360.

Traditional board games are more fun if you can get the people to play them. It is always fun to see peoples reactions directly when things happen that affect them, like a good or bad move.

  • Eric Y.

With friends, table top board games. Alone, XBLA.

I prefer playing board games on traditional boards.

    Thanks for the giveaway!
