As of yesterday, the game based on this summer’s second biggest sporting event, the UEFA Euro 2008, has hit store shelves. UEFA Euro 2008 should be available in every major retailer in North America as of yesterday, but definitely as of today. Also notably, there is a demo for this game on Xbox Live Marketplace, so if you’re interested give that a try first. I enjoyed it quite a bit and it seems like a welcomed improvement from FIFA 07 and 08.
UEFA Euro 2008 gives you a shot at playing with one of 52 European countries to take them from the Qualification rounds, to the group rounds and finally to the elimination rounds that could take you all the way to the finals, if you’re good enough. There is also a new mode called Captain Your Country in which gamers can put themselves on the field and take their country through to glory.
A new addition to the series is a massive web component called EA Football World. Using this, while connected to EA servers, your every performance against any country is rated using points, where more points are awarded for scoring an upset. Gamers can also track their performances through EA Football World which is available in 5 different languages.
We’ll have a review up of this game, hopefully soon. Download the demo, try it, and if you like it, go get the game!
