I hate the name Activision Blizzard, always have, and probably always will. It sounds like two kids getting into an argument, reminiscent of a South Park argument between Cartman and Kyle – and with the conclusion having both sides win out. Either way, as opposed to just presenting a problem, we here at 360Sync have a solution. So, for now on, instead of calling them Activision Blizzard Vivendi World of Warcraft Call of Duty Guitar Hero makers, we’ll simply refer to them as Blizzision.

Speaking of Blizzision, yesterday Activision stockholders approved the company’s agreement with Vivendi, S.A. to combine Vivendi Games, Vivendi’s interactive entertainment business, with Activision’s businesses. Which means quite simply for the non financial folks, that the deal with most likely be fully approved today to form the new company of Activision Blizzard.

Activision and Vivendi Games will combine their businesses through the merger of a newly formed, wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision with and into Vivendi Games. As a result of the merger, Vivendi Games, the parent company of Blizzard Entertainment and Sierra, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision.  As of the closing of the transaction, Activision will be renamed Activision Blizzard and will continue to operate as a public company traded on NASDAQ under the ticker ATVI.

Did we mention that this deal will make Activision the largest video game maker in the world? Move over EA, cause it looks like you have some serious competition now. One can only wonder what EA’s response will be, especially after failed attempts to take over Take Two Interactive.
