Many 360 owners were excited when Valve announced at the Microsoft E3 press conference that we were getting an Xbox Live Marketplace version of Portal, the hit 2007 PC title that developed a rabid following.
When it was first announced, all we got was GLaDOS (the computerized artificial intelligence that directs, or should I say misdirects the player.) announcing that some sort of portal related game was coming, when Valve’s Doug Lombardi (VP of Marketing) was questioned however, it was all explained.
Portal: Still Alive is a standalone version of the original Portal that can be purchased through the Xbox Live Marketplace. In addition to the original game, it also features a number of levels that are not part of the main story arc, and therefore do not include story elements like the GLaDOS voice-over.
The game will be exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade, with the additional levels consisting of officially certified levels that have been pulled from Portal: The Flash Version MapPack, a map pack of levels inspired by Portal: The Flash Version.
So there you go, if you already have The Orange Box, then it’s probably not going to be worth the extra expense of re-purchasing the game again.
