Hey all and welcome to this weeks slightly late edition of XBLA Today (Yesterday). This week we are taking a look at 1942: Joint Strike and Go! Go! Break Steady, a classic revamp, and a new rhythm breakdancing game. Yes, I said breakdancing…
1942: Joint Strike is a revamp of the classic arcade franchise where you take on waves of incoming enemies in a top down shooter. With new updated graphics in a game that looks like a WWII era game, but with much more modern weaponry. There is a nice camera effect when you first start and change between levels where it loses color and looks a little filmy, it’s a nice touch. If you like the classic top down shooters, this is a good one, and online and offline co-op you can’t go wrong.
Go! Go! Break Steady is another rhythm game when we have more and more coming every day to catch on to the big deal of the decade. It is set up where you are pressing button presses to match up with the screen, and it breaks up into an almost Zuma like puzzle after each correct move made, and together thats how you beat the levels. The concept is interesting, and there is a lot of nice little details they worked on here. It’s just not anything special in comparison to some of the other rhythm games out there. People who like rhythm games already have the game of their choice. It’s not a bad game, and it is done well, just not enough to warrent a purchase from me.
Be sure to check out the demos for each, come back, and tell me how good/bad I did with checking out these games, and be sure to come back next week for another XBLA Today!
