Criterion Games put up a blog post on Friday morning showing off and sharing some new, and awesome information about their biggest update to Burnout Paradise yet.  The next update, named Davis, will bring to the Burnout Series three firsts: bikes, night-time and dynamic weather.  From the screenshots we can see that there will be at least 3 different styles of bikes: sportbikes, naked-bikes/streetfighters and cruisers/choppers.  With Davis, you’ll get two bikes right off the bat: the FV1100 streetbike and the Firehawk racebike.  There are more, but you’ll have to run through the bike gameplay before you’re allowed to take those to the blacktop.

Have you ever played a motorcycle game, and just wished you could ride at night? Well the Burnout team did, so they decided along with bikes, they should give us night-time.  Remember those Burning Routes you did in the Burnout cars to get upgraded versions of the car? Well, bikes will now how “Burning Rides” and “Midnight Rides” to be ridden during the day and night, respectively. Apparently, the traffic even thins out at night, allowing you to ride and drive faster.

Then there’s the third first, about which we weren’t really aware of: dynamic weather. Yes, Burnout Paradise’s weather will change as you drive or ride through the city. No more seeing Paradise City engulfed by the always-nice weather.

Finally, the bikes will be getting their own set of 70 new challenges.  35 of them will be the timed challenges debuted in the Cagney Update, while the other 35 will be the standard freeburn challenges.  With the Cagney update just hitting 360s all over the world, could Criterion Games be the most supportive developers we’ve seen yet?  We’ve added the bike-specific screenshots to our Burnout Paradise gallery below!
