UPDATE: Here is the video from tonight’s episode of X-Play
After a couple years of being scaled down and being open only to media E3 will return to it’s previous glory, sort of. In 2009 E3 will take place during the first week of June at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will be open to the public for the first time, officially at least. The showfloor and meeting rooms will be open to media starting on Tuesday June 2nd with the showfloor opening to the public on Friday (5th) and Saturday (6th). While this is great to see there will be a limit on attendance around the level of 40,000 people. This is a large amount of people but if you look at the 2005 year where E3 hosted 70,000 and this year’s PAX which saw close to 60,000 people show up in Seattle.
This news is very good for the avid gamers that would like to make the trip and for smaller community sites which may not have previously been able to experience E3. This announcement was planned to come out during tonight’s X-Play broadcast but details also emerged through Level Up. We’ll be sure to keep you guys updated on any changes or more official details but for now what do you think of this change to E3?
