It’s only recently been brought to my attention, but there’s a really interesting series up on youtube called Halo 3 Mythbusters.

Obviousy taking inspiration from the hit tv show, Halo 3 Muthbusters seeks to “test myths that have plagued the Halo community since launch”, basically what they do is use saved films to test different theories people have come up with, you might be surprised which ones are true (I certainly was!).

Below I’ve embedded each episode along with the myths they test for (but of course I wouldn’t spoil the results!), I encourage you to check them out and subscribe to the series if it interests you.

The first episode was out August 30th and of course since then there has been an update to Halo 3 so some of these may no longer work, worth a try though!

Episode 1

Myths Tested (and confirmed or busted)

• You can get an extermination against a team of one
• You can see invisible players through the infrared display on the sniper scope
• You can get an assassination by hitting a player’s right shoulder, but not their left shoulder
• The gravity hammer can damage enemies through a wall
• Crouching and looking completely downward will cause a frag grenade to stay stationary
• You can stick a Katana
• you can snipe an oncoming rocket
• A sniper bullet can ricochet more than once 
• A sniper bullet can ricochet more than once and still cause damage after the ricochet’s
• If your gun gets stuck, you can survive by switching weapons
• If your gun gets stuck, you can survive by dropping the weapon
• You can earn a wheelman medal for a stick that your passenger threw prior to getting on your vehicle

Episode 2

Myths Tested (and confirmed or busted)

• Two grenades can stick to each other in midair (tested with all the combinations)
• You can’t 4 shot an elite
• You can stick a rocket
• In addition to rockets, you can also bat away missile pod missiles with a gravity hammer
• If you throw a stick prior to grabbing the flag, you will earn a flag kill medal in addition to the stick medal
• You can BR a rocket
• Two rockets can collide in midair
• There is a spot on the neck of an elite where bullets and grenades can pass through without damaging the player
• A frag grenade explosion can alter the course of a rocket
• If you stick a weapon on the ground, and someone picks it up, you will recieve a stick medal
• You can stick someone even if only their gun is sticking through a shield door

Episode 3

Myths Tested (and confirmed or busted)

• You can get a gravity hammer kill on Valhalla by beating down a wraith
• You can drive the troop transport warthog on the pit
• You can’t be hit by your own rocket
• An active turret slows down a warthog
• You can drive the anti-aircraft wriath on the campaign level “the covenant”
• After getting a vehicular manslaughter in a ghost, you receive another vehicular manslaughter for every kill you get with the ghosts cannons
• You can get a killing spree from the grave
• A mongoose with a passenger is slower than a mongoose without a passenger
• A ghost can outrun a rocket
• A spartan laser can blow up a rocket
• You can stick someone even if only their gun is sticking through a shield door (revisited)
• You can do a halo 2 style plasma grenade launch using a spike grenade

Episode 4

Myths Tested (and confirmed or busted)

• You can create a “sticky trap” by placing a bubble shield at the top of a lift
• You can get an overkill using one firebomb grenade on the same person
• You can damage a player by shooting their weapon
• You can damage a player by shooting their secondary weapon
• If you stick the bomb with a spike grenade just before disarming it, the spike grenade will transport with the bomb
• You can’t mongoose splatter someone who is walking away from you
• You can get an extermination in multi-team (we know that you can get an extermination by killing the same team four times, but that’s not what they were testing)
• You can get a kill by shooting a full needler clip into a weapon just before an opposing plaer picks it up
• You can pass over a trip mine without setting it off by crouch-walking

Episode 5

Myths Tested (and confirmed or busted)

• You can begin a multi-kill with a kill from the grave
• You can commit suicide by running into a turret at 300% speed
• You can carry three weapons using a glitch in CTF game types
• The bubbe shield is in effect before its’ animation
• You can be stuck by a frag grenade
• You can earn a vehicular manslaughter medal without entering a vehicle
• You can crash a pelican with a well-placed plasma grenade
