It’s been a while since we posted an update from the Criterion Games team, but they’ve been hard at work. Now with all the major game releases over with, we’re finally going to get a small lull and time to recoup some cash in our wallets. Let’s get to the news then. Criterion Games has posted new screenshots of the Burnout Paradise Island DLC they’ve been promising. From what I can see, it looks pretty good and more importantly, really really fun. So without further adieu, here are the screenshots. I’ll do my best to explain them below according to what Criterion said about them.

First, the image of the 4 Dust Storms. Those are new dune buggies that are coming when this DLC hits. The image itself shows off what Burnout Paradise is really about: getting together with your friends and just having fun. Have you played in the Airfield or the Quarry in Burnout Paradise? Well now take that fun concept, and think the size of Downtown Paradise City with all that fun! Yes, you can jump through all of those hoops and that construction building in the background can also be accessed to the top floor.
Next up, is the image with the palm trees. This shows off some of the new foliage coming to Burnout Paradise, as well as the more “tropical” side of the island. It also has some off road driving to satisfy everyone’s rallying fix. And see that jump right before the tower? You guessed it; you can jump through that.
Construction, a big glass building and a view of the bridge from the island is the next screenshot. This screenshot was taken to show off what the bridge looks like from the island and to emphasize the “if you can see it, you can drive it” mantra of the Burnout Team. You can even get up to the top of that scaffolding; how cool is that?!
Finally, the last screenshot is of the entrance to the island. You can see the big Big Surf Island banner as well as two towers. The one on the left is a parking garage and it is said you can Drift all the way up it and all the way down it. The other, known as the Taylor J Towers, got their name from DBC9MX, who won the Downtown Showtime Showdown competition, and named the building after his son, Taylor J.
That’s all for now folks! If you want to know more, go to the post itself or check out Episode 15 of the Crash FM Video Podcast.
