Namco Bandai released new footage for Afro Samurai, their upcoming hip-hop infused action-adventure game for the Xbox 360. Featuring the game’s opening cinematic, the latest video will prepare players for what’s to come in this stylistic adventure by providing some insight on the two sacred headbands.

Afro Samurai utilizes a dynamic cross-hatching art style and cut-scene paneling that makes the game look like a comic come to life while its innovative combat system gives players the ability to dynamically cut enemies at any point in the body. Staying true to the anime series, the game is set to an original hip hop musical score with a new track by The RZA of Wu Tang Clan fame. Blending traditional Japanese folklore, funky technology and hip-hop culture, Afro Samurai will undoubtedly deliver a brutally fresh interactive experience.

The hit animated TV series comes alive when Afro Samurai is released on January 27, 2009.
