Unlike normally, when I only get to write about one of my “toys,” now I get to write about two of them: the 360 and the iPhone. Last week, the team at 1337pwn released a new version of their awesomely popular iPhone App 1337pwn Xbox Live Friends List (link to the app in the iTunes Store). The new name of the app is the 1337pwn iNXES Xbox Live Friends (link to the app in the iTunes Store), and instead of the list format of the original app, this one uses the cards like the NXE on the 360. They’ve even added functionality to it, because it allows you to see the top games on Xbox Live. From the looks of it, it seems pretty sweet.

iNXES is the next generation XBOX Live Friends list application from the team at 1337pwn.com. As the creators of the most popular XBOX Live application in the AppStore, we have put our expertise to work with a totally new mobile XBOX 360 experience.
With the NXE as inspiration, the 1337pwn.com team has brought the excitement of the new XBOX 360 user interface to iPhone/iPod touch. From sliding panels to avatars, you can now browse your friends on the go as you would on your XBOX 360.
The user interface is matched with a new server infrastructure leveraging our full year of experience delivering mobile XBOX Live applications. As an Official XBOX Community Developer, you will not be putting your Live login at risk.
iNXES was built with the iPhone SDK and is only available through Apple’s AppStore. Click on the AppStore icon below.

While I don’t personally have experience with this release due to not updating my iPhone to 2.2, I have played around with their previous app and it was full of pure awesomeness. For those that want to know why I haven’t updated to 2.2, here’s some iPhone talk for you. When 2.1 was released, it was deemed “safe” for an upgrade by the Dev Team (a team of developers that works to jailbreak and unlock the iPhone) and would be able to be unlocked in the future. However, when 2.2 was released they recommended that users that want to be able to unlock their phones in the future, should not upgrade. This was due to an update to the baseline of the phone, where it would not be able to be modified by a jailbreak script, nor an unlock script. This way, the phone would stay locked, until someone figures out a way to break and unlock the baseline too. Either way, until 2.2 is deemed safe to upgrade to and still have an unlocked/unlockable iPhone, I won’t be playing with this app. However, the original app does still have the Avatar functionality, so it’s still great.
Anyone here have an iPhone? What do you think of the app? If you want to get it, we have links to both apps below. Enjoy!
