We have another interview coming up, but since it is taking a it longer then expected, we still wanted to go over some additional details of the Godfather 2. At the event last week, we were also able to get some hands on with the 4 different types of multiplayer games. It should be worth noting that the coolest thing that EA is doing is giving an incentive to play the multiplayer, as you will be able to bring back cash and weapons earned into the single player experience.

Weapons brought back into single player? The weapons of the game (sniper rifle, tommy gun, etc.) can all be upgraded to level 2 and 3. Whereas, level 3 is a much more powerful weapon and can perform deadly shots, then say a baseball bat or a level 1 version of the same gun. However, you can’t just get one of these weapons easily, which makes the integration a good idea… play online with friends, and get rewards that help with the single player, sounds good to us.

Any Last Words?

The game features 4 different types of multiplayer games including Fire Starter, Demolition Assault, Safe Cracker and Team Deathmatch, which take place across 6 maps (although it has been confirmed that more will be made available later via DLC).

Fire Starter: The game involves 2 teams – Red and Blue – and the goal of the game is to start fires (surprise!). I found this game to be enjoyable, running around setting off propane tanks, and quickly switching from being a pyromaniac to shooting the blue defenders. In our hands on demonstration, we were actually provided a team of individuals who understood that in order to win, you need to work together (something the blue team never really figured out). We would win our first match of the day, since at the time, we didn’t full understand the point multiplier system (which is a green flame under the character. Each item you blow up increases the multiplier, but if you die, you have to start back over).

Demolition Assault: Almost the same concept as Fire Starter, but this time, instead of setting off explosives, you are destroying objects that are on the map.

I’m The Firestarter!

Safe Cracker: Easily my favorite of the multiplayer gametypes, the game starts you off on 2 sides again, – Red and Blue – and the goal of the game is to take over safes that are scattered across the map. At the beginning of the game, every safe is neutral, and it is up to the teams to run up to them, and run an animation that takes about 5 seconds to take over (or 10 seconds if the other team controls it). Therefore, teamwork is crucial in this gametype to determine who is going to go for the safes, who is going to protect, and who is just going to run around shooting approaching enemies.

Our game lasted about 10 minutes, and with a good system of covering our 6 safes, and not letting the enemies take over any of them, we were able to win (by a very slim margin).

Team Deathmatch: The standard, shoot-em-up game that we are all used to, but in the Godfather 2 world. You kill enemies to win this gametype.
