Update 1: Added a direct link to the demo for your convenience.
As of now, the HAWX demo should be up on the Xbox Live Marketplace. HAWX (full name: Tom Clancy’s HAWX), aims to take on the lonely flight sim genre, with a new entry, but with a familiar name. This genre was previously only occupied by two games on the 360, Over G Fighters and Ace Combat 6. Personally, being a long time fan of the Ace Combat series, I’m really interested to see how HAWX plays out. We’ve seen countless iterations of Tom Clancy’s name on games, and some like the most recent, EndWar, have revolutionized genres. While EndWar was the first console RTS to use voice controls, HAWX looks to use the Enhanced Reality System, ERS for short, to help players fly.
The Enhanced Reality System is the core of the HAWX flight experience—aircraft interception trajectories, incoming missile detection, anti-crash system, damage assessment, tactical map, and weapons trajectory control. E.R.S. also lets you issue orders to your squadron and other units, making this system as iconic to HAWX as the Cross-Com system is to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter®.
A preview of the demo is up on Xbox.com, which you can check out while you’re waiting for the demo to finish downloading. (We’ll update this post with a link to the demo as soon as we have said link.)
