For some of us, racing games seem rare on the 360. So when a game claiming to be ultra-realistic shows up and looks like it’ll be good, we take notice. The next one like this is Race Pro from Atari, and we’ve got some screenshots showing off one of the tracks in the game. The track, called Circuit de Pau (Pau Circuit in English), is 2.670km long, and winds through the streets of Pau in Southern France. This track bears similarity to that of F1′s Monaco race track due to the fact that it’s a street track. Sadly, street tracks are deemed to be more dangerous than actual race tracks, so more and more of them are being phased out, making Pau and Monaco that much more special. But enough about that, here’s some more information about the track and Race Pro itself.
The first official race in Pau was held in 1901. Here, the difference between winning and disaster is measured in inches: get a little bit off line and you will be pin-balling along the guardrails in the Parc Beaumont. The typical crested tarmac of the Pau streets can be a real obstacle and run you off the road. To minimize this effect, set the car up with plenty of suspension travel.
On Race Pro:
RACE Pro recreates a breathtaking reality giving players the ultimate racing simulation experience so that nothing gets closer to the action and thrill of professional car racing. RACE Pro provides unrivalled realism and deep immersion into the racing world through ultra realistic car models and official FIA championships and tracks. Developed by renowned award-winning game developer SimBin, a leading creator of PC racing simulators, RACE Pro is scheduled to speed into stores in January 2009 exclusively for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
And the best thing about all of this? Race Pro is hitting store shelves on February 17th, which just so happens to be next Tuesday. Is it just me or does this February/March seem like a smaller repeat of the Holiday season 2008? Either way, enjoy the lovely screenshots below and let us know what you think!
