First Songs From Guitar Hero: Smash Hits

By | April 9, 2009 | Uncategorized |

Guitar Hero fans can now cast their votes online at SmashHits.GuitarHero.com to determine the order in which songs will be revealed for Guitar Hero Smash Hits.

Guitar Hero Smash Hits takes the most exciting, recognizable and fun to play music from genre-defining titles Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, which were previously available for guitar-only in-game play, and delivers them as a compelling and dynamic full band experience.

Each week, a portion of the Guitar Hero Smash Hits set list will be revealed based on which prior game captures the most votes. Guitar Hero Smash Hits feature the most memorable songs from Guitar Hero games together in one epic set list, including these tracks:

  • “Killer Queen” – Queen
  • “I Love Rock N Roll” – Joan Jett and The Blackhearts
  • “Bark At The Moon” – Ozzy Osbourne • Guitar Hero II
  • “Them Bones” – Alice in Chains
  • “Killing in the Name” – Rage Against The Machine
  • “Message In A Bottle” – The Police
  • “Carry On Wayward Son” – Kansas
  • “Free Bird” – Lynyrd Skynyrd
  • “I Wanna Rock” – Twisted Sister
  • “Nothin But A Good Time” – Poison
  • “Barracuda” – Heart
  • “Through the Fire and Flames” – DragonForce

Featuring 48 master recordings, Guitar Hero Smash Hits delivers exciting online and offline gameplay modes including Band Career and 8-player “Battle of the Bands,” which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online.

Developed by Beenox Studios, Guitar Hero Smash Hits for the Xbox 360 is scheduled for release in June. For more information about the game, visit www.GuitarHero.com.

I like this idea but charging $60 for this is just stupid, should be $40 because theres oly 48 tracks and they are all rereleases, nothing new! It is stupid and I am sure I will end up failing and buying it.

BUT the game's full band. Also, I imagine that they'll rechart the guitar parts to some extent to match the WT engine.

Some of these songs are going to be so epic as a four-piece band that it'll be impossible to pass up. I've had my eye on "Killer Queen" for a while now…

I've gotta agree with Donski. There will be some recharting, not a lot because I'm sure they won't want to step on too many toes of people who can FC these songs in their sleep.

To have full band on some of these songs will be amazing. However, the big selling point for me in a lot of cases, is the master track element. The Killer Queen cover in the first GH was terrible, just awful. To have the original by one of my favorite bands is damn compelling for me.

It's going to depend on the rest of the tracks but the first 1/4 are pretty darn good picks on the whole (10 are solid at least). As far as the price tag, ya, I'm not thrilled, but then again there's the DLC argument – if these songs were put up at normal prices (I'll even throw the 6 for $10 deal in there), it'd be $80 total. So there is value.

Plus, especially with a version like this, I think it won't be too long before some official price cuts and being eBay savvy could save you $20 or so pretty close to release.
