Earlier this morning and right before E3 09, Microsoft announced some big performance numbers for the Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE. Right off the bat, Microsoft says that 30 Million Xbox 360’s have been sold across the face of this planet, as well as a grand total of 20 million active Xbox Live users. There were also some other stats which rather than sugar-coating, we’ll just give them to you straight:
- 2008 was the Xbox 360’s biggest year so far
- In 2009, the Xbox 360 has the highest percentage growth of any console so far
- U.S. consumers have spent $14.5 billion across all categories on the Xbox 360 at retail
- Nearly 1 billion pieces of content have been purchased on the Xbox Live Marketplace
- Since the NXE release
- There has been a 136 percent increase in new Xbox Live members
- TV and Movie downloads have more than doubled
- Game content purchases have increased by 70%
I think 2009’s been a pretty solid year for the Xbox 360. We’ll know our console’s future when Microsoft holds their press briefing on Monday morning right before E3 2009 starts.
