*UPDATE* RUMOR: Green Day Rock Band in 2009?

Update: There isn’t going to be an entire Green Day Rock Band game, but there is going to be a three song track pack featuring the songs “21 Guns,” “Know Your Enemy,” and “East Jesus Nowhere.”  We will be seeing more Green Day in the future, but no details have been released yet.

According to an interview with Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong on KROQ FM, there will be an entire Green Day Rock Band game by the end of 2009.

Here is a script of what was said in the interview from Gamespot.com:

Billie Joe Armstrong: “Yeah we’re doing a whole Green Day Rock Band.” (emphasis added)

As for when that will happen, Armstrong said, “I’m not sure. Soon. Not like this week soon, but this year soon. I think by the end of the year.”

Harmonix has not replied to comments yet related to the new game.  It could just be a downloadable album or track pack, but it seems that it could be an actual game.

    Nooo, I enjoyed old school Green Day, but not so much the new stuff… an entire game… what about Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin for starters… too many other better bands deserve a full game, not Green Day.

      I half agree with you. Zeppelin would probably make for a pretty decent game with Jimmy Page solos and such. I don't think an entire Pink Floyd game would be very fun. An extended DLC pack would be fine, but I think their style's too chill to play song after song by them…Feel free to rebut and prove me wrong…Or we can agree to disagree.

      Regardless, this Green Day thing will probably be in the same vein as the ACDC disc and not like GH:A and GH:M.

    I believe they have it mixed up. I believe this will either be a track pack like AC/DC or just a album thing like Iron Maiden or The Who

    It was confirmed today, a DLC pack for rock band will be released including 3 songs from there new album…but i hope green day get there own game, one of my favorite bands out there.:D

    I am definitely buying the first DLC pack, Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns are epic win! Cannot wait to play them.
