Earlier today, Ubisoft and the Government of Ontario announced a new studio, right here in my home town of Toronto.  While this presents an opportunity for a lot of people, we all know who the real people going after those jobs will be: gamers.

The press conference was really well done, without much political fluff, but included many interesting facts about Toronto, Canada and the gaming industry as a whole.  Mentioning that Halo 3’s opening day grossed higher than any movie’s opening weekend in theatre’s just does to show how big gaming is. Also mentioned was that 75% of Ontario’s population plays games as well as 49% of those gamers are women.

Either way, I’d suggest you watch the press conference, but skip the first minute, as nothing happens. Definitely skip the first 10 seconds as it is a loud beep that might just blow your speakers. Enjoy!
