Well, for those of you that have gotten into the various waves of the Preview of the August 11th Update, you may have seen these already but not realized that they are indeed new features. These are two features that Microsoft has said nothing about, but are actually in the preview.  Whether or not they will be in the full update when it drops on the 11th, only time will tell.

Some people mentioned this first one on Twitter, so I decided I would investigate it. Turns out it was true and that when you unlock a new gamerpic in after the update, you will get a notification (the same style as an achievement).  If you’re interested in testing it yourself, get a copy of ‘Splosion Man, beat level 1-4 and install the gamerpic. We’ve also got a screenshot below if you’re interested in seeing what the notification itself looks like.

For the second feature, we all know how annoying it can be standing above your drive on your 360 waiting for it to open, after that long trek from your couch. Well now you can spare your eject button, and by going to your disc blade under the My Xbox portion of the Dashboard, press X, and the drive will pop out. After that, you can pull the tray back in by either pressing the eject button or by pressing A on the controller (provided you still have the disc blade selected). And of course as with the previous feature we’ve got a screenshot for you too.

Personally, I’ve been asking for the eject function since before the original NXE update, and the gamerpic notification is a great idea, especially since games like Gears of War brought unlockable gamerpics.  Only really in both the Maw and ‘Splosion Man, have had you install a gamepic with a screen rather than just simply doing a hidden install, like Gears of War. And what say you dear readers?
