On November 15, 2001, Microsoft released the original Xbox, before launching Xbox Live on the same date a year later. Today marks the 7th and 8th anniversaries of both birthdays.
I remember the night Xbox came out, standing at Best Buy, and having to make a decision between a Nintendo Gamecube or a Microsoft Xbox. Luckily for me, I made the right decision, and walked out with the Xbox starter kit, which featured the giant duke controller, and Project Gotham Racing. After somehow receiving two copies of the game, I was lucky enough to trade the extra copy of PGR for a title called Halo: Combat Evolved, and the rest is history. It would be a year before Xbox Live was introduced, with the first game being NFL Fever 2002.
The future of gaming – The Duke
Both Xbox and Xbox Live have come along way since the releases back in 2001 and 2002, and with Xbox Live now having over 20 million subscribers, and with over 800,000 people playing Modern Warfare 2 simultaneously on the service, the future certainly looks bright.
On behalf of 360Sync, congrats Xbox Team!
