Maybe you didn’t know, but Microsoft has been busy at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show foisting their wares and letting the industry in on some of their newest projects. One concept which caught our eye was a newly listed title known as . Currently being developed by Slick Entertainment, this top-down racer aims to let you “fight your way through explosive, action-packed missions and defeat cunning bosses to add their vehicles to your garage.”

The game’s core component lies in single player missions where you can test your nerve in up to 60 missions, unleashing an arsenal of vicious weapons and slick drift moves which all lead up to what is touted to be the “ultimate boss showdown”. The arsenal appears to be fairly robust, including but not limited to flamethrowers, dual chainsaws, rocket launchers and a modified food processor known only as “The Pulverizer”.

Oohh….I like that one.

One really cool aspect is that you can gather your opponent’s flaming scraps and add them to your own garage, using their gear to upgrade your  ride. More than 20 vehicle types are showcased and we know of at least a bulldozer, airboat, monster truck and a muscle car. Players can then take their creations online and engage in a myriad of multiplayer modes with their friends on LIVE. Available modes include Demolition Derby, King of the Hill, Gasoline and Tank War. Waitaminute…there’s tanks? Seriously?

To finish things off we can also reveal that the game will be capable of being played in 3D, courtesy of time-tested red and cyan glasses (sold separately) that will make you the talk of the town, belle of the ball, and any other glorified metaphor of your choosing. Look out for sometime this Spring, at an as of yet determined price. The official site is locate at http://www.slickentertainment.com/our-games/scrap-metal/ Looks promising, not to mention gratuitously violent.

Should be brilliant.
