Realism Versus Becomes a Left 4 Dead 2 Staple

By | May 7, 2010 | DLC |

With the release of the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC, The Passing, came new weekly game modes called “Mutations”.  The first Mutation was a “Realism Versus” mode, a mode designed for only the most hardcore of L4D2 teams.  Well, the community spoke up, and apparently, one week of “Realism Versus” isn’t enough!

Valve set up a poll on the L4D2 in-game blog asking users whether “Realism Versus” should become permanent.  The result was an overwhelming “Yes!”, because, you know, people aren’t dumb enough to turn down a free game add-on.  Regardless, it’s here to stay, and Valve is giving us a little more bang for our buck.

Staying on topic, this week’s Mutation is an interesting new take on Scavenge mode called “Follow The Liter”.  Instead of 16 cans spawning at the beginning of each round, only one can will spawn at a time.  This seems great for the Survivors, right?  The whole team knows exactly where to go.  But remember, the Infected know exactly where they’re going, too.  “Follow The Liter” should add a considerable level of mayhem to an already chaotic game mode.
