After selling 6 million copies worldwide, Square-Enix have decided to return to the world they visited in Final Fantasy XIII with the announcement of a direct sequel, Final Fantasy XIII-2, which will be released next holiday on Xbox 360.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 will have a brand new storyline, as well as a revamped and improved battle system over it’s predecessor. And that’s really all we know. The only way you could be more vague would be to just say we have a new game, and leave it at that. Growing up I was a fan of the Final Fantasy series, but as I’ve gotten older their appeal has waned in my eyes. FFXIII was probably the most polarizing game in the series, because it’s dead heat between my friends over whether or not it’s a good game. If you enjoyed XIII, you’re probably gonna enjoy this title. If you didn’t…remember Lost Odyssey? That was good.
Despite the polarizing views, that doesn’t mean that this can’t be good. I’ll be cautiously optimistic until the game gets released next winter.
