Get ready to start feeling like you’re actually driving, because Microsoft just recently dropped news of a new controller shipping September 26th! Dubbed the Wireless Speed Wheel, it’s supposed to make racing games feel and control more intuitively. It comes with the standard triggers (used for braking and accelerating), the d-pad (although it beats me why they went with the old d-pad design) and the ABXY buttons. Since there is no analog stick or anything for steering, it is done intuitively, by rotating the wheel how much you want to turn. And just to add, the controller isn’t at all dependent on Kinect.
To be honest, I’m a bit skeptical, as I’m not fond of a steering wheel for racing, but I’m willing to give this a try to see how well it actually works. From Below are all the press shots as well as some pictures from Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport 4 event at E3 of the wheel in action!
The Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel is expected to be available in early October, and you can bet I’ll be letting you know what I think of it when I get my hands on it!
