One of the lesser talked about titles coming out of E3 was X-Men: Destiny. The game is being developed by Silicon Knights, the infamous developer of 2008′s misfire Too Human. The game will feature an emphasis on player choice, whether to fight for mutant/human cohabitation, or against it.
The game will feature some of the most popular X-Men heroes and villians, such as Wolverine, Magneto, Gambit, Nightcrawler, and the Juggernaut, but will actually cast the player in the role of one of three new mutant characters. There is the feisty japanese girl Aimi Yoshida, the high school football player Grant Alexander, and a boy named Adrian, a former member of an anti-mutant group up until his mutant powers became active. The player will be able to collect items known as “X-Genes,” which grant them the power of an X-Men character.
I’m not sure what to think yet. I sorta would have wanted them to include the ability to create your own mutant instead of the three new characters, all of which I’m completely disinterested in. There’s also the fact that the developer of the game hasn’t made a decent title since the GameCube. I’ll still hold my reservations until I get to actually play the game, which as of now won’t be until September of this year. Check out the trailer above, and maybe it’ll pique your interest more than my own.
