I had the chance to visit THQ in Los Angeles last week at a WWE ’12 Community Event, and walked away with everything you’ll need to know about the upcoming game in the series. This year the Smackdown vs. Raw series is being rebranded into WWE ’12, and will be the wrestling game of 2012. We got our hands on the game, and had a chance to compare it to the real thing, the WWE SummerSlam PPV event, and I walked away impressed.

WWE ’12 is subtitled, Bigger, Badder, and Better. It’s clear what THQ and Yuke’s had in mind. They fixed problems that the community asked for during the year, and tried to add to the game in every regard. Last year, they introduced the new Create a Wrestler mode, and this year, they created new ways to decorate, and showed off the new Create an Arena, which you can share online with others. We saw a nice amount of wrestling mats created, including a nWo mat, as well as old Saturday Night WCW fights.

Bigger, Badder, and Better. Some notes that we grabbed from the event include,

Bigger:

  • 80+ Match Types
  • 70+ Superstars, Divas, and Legends
  • 12 Hour Story Campaign
  • Never-ending Universe Mode
  • 60+ Unlockables – new belts, new arenas, etc.
  • Online Play, Content Sharing, and DLC plans
Badder:
  • CREATE AN ARENA! (which you can share online)
  • You can interrupt moves without it looking funky.
  • New submission system – Breaking Point
  • Comeback moment, Wakeup taunts

Better:

  • Improved A.I. and Difficulty levels
  • New Controls
  • Revamped Momentum System
  • New Superstar Attributes
  • Real Match Progression
  • Reversal timing overhauled
  • Core systems retooled
We messed around with a variety of the match types, and the different modes that will be included in WWE ’12, and think that the series is still being improved upon. If you enjoyed Smackdown vs Raw 2011, you’ll probably enjoy the changes and enhances that WWE ’12 will bring to the table.

Lastly, in an effort to let the fans decide who deserves the Collector’s Edition of WWE ’12, THQ has posted a new poll asking which edition they would prefer. The choices are between The People’s Edition of The Rock, or The Champ’s Edition of John Cena. The winning wrestler will be on the cover of the Collector’s Edition, and we were told that extra bonuses and collectibles will be included, but your choice will dictate which type of bonuses will be included. My vote of course is for Team Bring It, and The Rock.

WWE ’12 will be released on November 22, and if you pre-order, you get The Rock DLC for free. Also, make sure to check out Facebook to vote for the Collector’s Edition,
