Elder Scrolls: Oblivion was a milestone game for the XBox 360 as well as Bethesda Softworks. It showed us the beginnings of the system’s limits, redefined RPG expectations, and was a pioneer in the DLC Market. Yes, I’m referring to the horse armor. It’s no shock then that Skyrim is just as, if not more ambitious than it’s predecessor. Bethesda took everything that was good about Oblivion, and built on it as well as including a few elements of its sister games from the Fallout series. With a newly built engine, called the Creation Engine, Skyrim has literally been built from the ground up.
At PAX, a one hour demo played by Todd Howard himself was presented to a lucky few people who waited in a cramped line in a small corridor for an hour and a half. I happened to be one of those people as it turns out. The demo was nothing short of spectacular and despite humorous jabs about horse armor and skooma from the audience, Todd Howard presented this new chapter in the Elder Scrolls universe in fine style. The video of the demo in question has been released today and is now here for your viewing pleasure. It is broken up into three parts but that in no way detracts from the awesomeness that is meant to be conveyed. Enjoy!
