When it comes to the rhythm genre, most titles make the player adapt to the game on-the-fly. One of the many things that sets Ubisoft Montreal’s Rocksmith apart is that the game actually adapts to the player.
As Paul Cross, Rocksmith’s Creative Director, discusses, the game will detect the player’s skill and change the chart accordingly. So, if the player has no problem with single notes, the game will probably start to throw some simple chords at them. Likewise, if they’re struggling, the game will pull the difficulty back and give them something manageable. The overarching goal seems to be to keep the player learning and improving at all times, rather than being overwhelmed and on the cusp of giving up.
Rocksmith releases on October 18, 2011, and our blossoming rock and roll careers take off probably, like, just a little bit after that.
