Ubisoft is doing some really big things lately. Fresh on the heels of the news that they’ve opening a studio in Abu Dhabi, they’ve formally announced that they’ve added one more member to their ever-expanding family. Although, anyone familiar with RedLynx knows that they aren’t exactly small fish in a big pond. The Finland-based developers have developed more than 100 titles in their 11 year existence, most notably Trials HD, one of the best selling games ever on the Xbox Live Arcade.
CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, says of the acquisition:
“The team at RedLynx has developed exceptionally strong digital brands that stand out for their high replay value, their long tail sales and their multiplatform positioning. We are delighted to welcome RedLynx to the Ubisoft family. Their expertise in asynchronous online games and physics-based game mechanics provides us with a great opportunity to bring their powerful brands, most notably Trials, to an even broader range of fast-growing digital platforms.”
There’s no word yet on how this move will affect the publishing of Trials Evolution. However, with a deep-pocket company such as Ubisoft backing their endeavors, we’re sure to see even more high-quality content coming from the folks at RedLynx.
