We hope everyone had a great 2011 and New Year’s, and now that we are in 2012, we need to get ready for the first batch of XBLA games for the year. The year started off with the game mentioned below, NFL Blitz, which was released recently to the XBLA for only $15. Later this month, the survival horror title AMY from Lexis Numerique will be released, followed by the Square Enix / TIK Games collaboration of Scarygirl.
It should be worth noting a few things. First, that we don’t know what game(s) will be released on January 25, 2012. Secondly, the Xbox House Party 2012 promotion was just announced, but not with any dates. Our guess is that the games will be released starting in February. The announced games include Alan Wake: American Nightmare, Warp, I am Alive, and Nexuis. We’ll make a separate post later today once we know more.
More information for each game is included below:
January 4, 2012 - NFL Blitz – $15
NFL Blitz is back and better than ever with the exciting tackles and over-the-top action of the 1990’s arcade hit. Featuring the twitch gameplay and ultra-responsive controls of the original game, combined with all-new single-player and cooperative game modes, NFL Blitz hits the virtual gridiron in HD for the first time with blazing 60fps/60Hz gameplay. Battle your rivals 7-on-7, fight your way through a season of the Blitz Gauntlet, take over the online leaderboards in Blitz Battles, or create a true dream team by collecting player cards in Elite League. Challenging to master, yet easy to pick up and play, NFL Blitz is reborn as the ultimate HD arcade football experience for a new generation.
January 11, 2012 – AMY – $10
AMY takes place in December 2034 in the small town of Silver City (Midwest, USA) after a comet strikes, wreaking havoc on humanity and unleashing a deadly virus that has infected almost everyone. Players take on the role of Lana, who regains consciousness in the midst of all the mayhem. The world she once identified with seems to have been torn to Hell, and most of the people she knew have now become part of a wild horde. Lana feels the virus beginning to infect her and knows she must run as far as possible to escape the nightmare. The presence of the titular Amy, a seemingly defenseless eight-year-old autistic girl who has curious powers, forces her to make choices that will affect both their lives. Together, they must fight or run from the infected humans, demons and the military, in the hope of not only saving each other, but also the future of humanity
January 18, 2012 – Scary Girl – $10
Based on Nathan Jurevicius’ Scarygirl graphic novel – winner of the 2009 Aurealis Award for Best Illustrated Book/Graphic novel – Scarygirl presents a wondrous adventure into a distinctive and beautifully bizarre world. She sets out into the world to discover the meaning behind her bad dreams, but Scarygirl is hardly helpless, as she has a tentacle-powered arsenal up her sleeve.
