Activision, the company that made the number one best selling franchise of 2007, now presents Guitar Hero World Tour! This title is going to include not just a wicked wireless axe for you to slay song with, but also a slammin’ wireless drum set and a gut bustin’ wireless microphone. These instruments can be used in a variety of game types including an 8-player online “battle of the bands” mode. As if you aren’t already mad that this game won’t be out until 2009, the game will have an innovative music studio that lets players compose, record, edit, and share music. That means that you will be able to share your sweet riffs and face melting solos with your friends via GHTunesâ„¢.

Yes, it does get better. GHWT will offer all master tracks with the largest on disc song selection of all time. Some of the featured artists will be Van Halen, Sublime, The Eagles, Linkin Park, and more. To appease the rock gods while playing these artist’s songs, new and improved weapons of choice will be available. The wireless drum set will come with three drum pads, two raised cymbals, and a bass kick pedal. They will also feature velocity-sensitive drum heads and soft rubber construction for a more authentic bounce back when they are struck.

The Xbox 360 version of the game will be made by Neversoft. Some extra features that we’ll see are fully customizable rockers, guitars, and album covers.

As we all sit and dream about which songs we will get jam out to, we want to know which songs you think will show up on GHWT. I’m hoping for “What I Got” by Sublime!

Assault Heroes 2 is a top down XBLA shooter made by Wanako Studios. AH2 keeps all the pertinent values from the first Assault Heroes while improving on many of the less favorable attributes. Alternate weapons and the ability to dodge attacks by rolling when on foot, and combined moves when playing co-op are some of the many improvements Wanako has added. Did we mention that online co-op actually works this time around?

Another addition to this game is tanks and helicopters that can be hi-jacked and used for a limited distance in the areas. The only disappointing part of driving an alternate vehicle is that if you are playing co-op mode you will fall behind in the amount of points you have by a substantial amount. This makes for plenty taunting and questioning of your roommates tank driving skills. Also, this game has on-foot only sections including entire mini-levels underground. These parts are especially tricky due to the lack of armor, where a single shot taken can take away all your life.

Luckily you’ll have plenty chances to play this game because the levels are longer and the addiction level for this game is through the roof! From burning down entire forests with your flamethrower or freezing all the enemies and having your partner run them over (It’s an achievement if you do it on hard 100 times), this game just doesn’t get old.

The graphics are much improved, the sound effects are a little cheesy (yes, that stupid turkey gobbling sound is still in the game), but any small fallacies are dwarfed by the playability and replayability of this game. For 800 Microsoft Points this game is a steal!

Update: This contest is now closed. We will be announcing the winners shortly!

Wits & Wagers is an XBLA game that features trivia with a dash of vegas style odds betting. The game is played with either four or six players in an “every man for himself” style gameplay. Each player chooses an answer for one of seven hundred questions found in the first question pack (by the way, if you answer all 700 questions you get an achievement!). While you sift through questions ranging from the height of the tallest president or the average weight of an adult monkey, you then place a wager on how confident you are that your answer is the best one available. If you aren’t so confident you can bet on any of the other players answers for varying payouts.

This does subject the game to be tainted by cheaters when playing online, but is still pretty fun for a party-like atmosphere. Although, the best part of the game is when you get to make your stick figure-like character dance around by using the right stick on the controller. Nothing is sweeter than doing the robot in the middle of a trivia game.

The game is somewhat enjoyable, so long as you can trust the people you are playing against, and is a good adaptation of the original board game by North Star Games. The key differences are when playing the board game, you can’t cheat, and have to deal with rounding up about 5 other people to play against, whereas on XBLA, inviting people is quick and easy. It all depends on if you enjoy actual gaming nights with a board game, or if you have been spoiled by Xbox Live and the simplicities of the service.

Do you agree with our review? Let us know what you think, and you’ll be entered to win one of three Wits & Wagers packages, which contains not only the XBLA version, but also the board game. Why pick and choose when you can have both? Contest ends Tuesday, May 20, 2008!

Midway revolutionized outrageous sports games in 1993 with NBA Jam. 15 Years later, Midway tries to improve on the previous title with NBA Ballers, but falls short. This game is the fourth in the NBA Ballers series. Although an improvement from the first three, it is more frustrating than anything else.

The story mode has many features including a 2v2 4-minute drill where you have to come back from a 26 point deficit and win by 5 without letting your opponent make any 3′s or get any steals. Another “feature” is playing an entire chapters worth of games (There are six chapters with ten or fifteen games in each one) against LeBron James. Unlike in real life, LeBron never chokes in this game and seems to be impossible to beat.

I also feel that this game should come with a free 12-pack of sprite because of how much advertising there is for it (the entire chapter with LeBron is supposed to be a commercial shoot for Sprite). Along with making me crave a thirst-quenching beverage, this game also makes me crave a better mix of songs on the jukebox. A long list of about twelve different songs all by the same artist “Just Blaze”, none of which have any words, are all you are going to hear for the 76 attempts it takes to beat LeBron.

The NBA Ballers series doesn’t do any justice to NBA Jam but is moderately fun when playing against other real people. The only problem is that when I tried to sign on to Xbox live to play against other people, no games were available. The game has been out for about three weeks and the leaderboards show the most games played by any one person at nineteen.

This game can’t be salvaged unless we all go out and buy it right now and start playing it 24/7 for the next few months. Who cares about GTA IV when you have NBA Ballers?
