Welcome to an exploding edition of XBLA Today! This week we are taking a look at Vigilante 8: Arcade, a remake of the classic Vigilante 8 car combat game. Does it compare to the original? Is it worth your time? Being that there isn’t much car combat on the 360, and it’s hard to go wrong (but possible) with cars that have guns, this should be a treat.
Vigilante 8: Arcade is a classic car combat style game, with a 70′s flare. You have 8 different cars to choose from, from a semi to a sports car, there’s a car for everybody’s style. There are 6 different weapon pickups and an unlimited ammo machine gun on each vehicle, with one of the pickups being a special attack for each, like a flamethrower, or a huge subwoofer. There is a quest story mode, but the main attraction here would be multiplayer, 4 player split screen, and online 8 player, all set to blow your friends away. The game isn’t perfect, but it is fun. It does seem kind of lame there there is only 5 maps to play from, but they may do DLC, hopefully if they do it’s free.
